PROGRAM OBJECTIVE:
Upon completion of this program, graduates will possess the skills and hands on experience needed to become entry level Mental Health Specialist or Technician, utilizing patient care skills in a variety of healthcare settings. The main objective of the program is to provide opportunities for graduates to become a certified mental health technician, or mental health assistant, working primarily in a supporting role under the direction of a supervising mental health care professional such as a psychiatrist or medical doctor.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Mental Health Specialist Program is designed to train the students in all relevant aspects of dealing primary with patients suffering from behavioral and mental health issues. This Diploma program was created for those interested in working in the mental health field, and those interested in the specialization, and others whose profession require them to work with mentally ill patients. This program requires graduates to be evaluated and take a Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) – Florida Certification necessary to work in the field under the supervision of psychologists, psychiatrists, Behavior Analyst and counselors to care for emotionally disturbed and mentally ill patients.
DISCLOSURE: Graduate of this program can work as a Mental Health Technicians as interns in most facilities with a Diploma and obtaining documented 1,000 hours experience they may challenge the exam (Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) – Florida Certification)
